An Invitation to join OUSD "Focus Group" on Special Education Issues on May 28. Read here.

Many Special Ed Teachers appreciate the opportunity to have their voices heard since that hasn't happened all year.

However, we wonder if this will be a real and ongoing discussion and not merely a front for the District to say we "heard" from all stakeholders, thereby attempting to give legitimacy to policy not properly vetted by these same stakeholders.

We know that the OUSD Budget for next year will contain ample resources to provide for more than "up to" a 1.5% raise.

We have waited long enough.

We will:

- Join with Adult Ed and GED teachers, parents, and students to keep programs;

- Unite to demand a FAIR CONTRACT NOW that includes adequate health coverage, and compensation;

- Support our Special Education brothers and sisters who are struggling with case load and safety issues;

- Tell the School Board that OEA has moved at the table and we expect OUSD to move, also.
